Box Office Analysis: Padmaavat and Pad Man STAY STEADY!

It has been a little more than three weeks since Sanjay Leela Bhansali treated the Indian box office and the audiences alike with his magnum opus, Padmaavat and about nine days since Akshay Kumar begun the conversation around menstrual hygiene with full swing with Pad Man.

And, judging by the numbers that both of these films are posting, it seems like the theatre owners will continue to help these films receive the love for days to come.

Let’s take a quick look at how these films are faring, shall we?

Padman marches into week 2 on a strong note, despite facing competition from films such as Aiyaary and Black Panther:

Here’s a day-by-day breakdown of the social dramas’ second week:

Day 8, Friday, 16th February 2018 – 2.10 crores

Day 9, Saturday, 17th February 2018 – 3.30 crores

It’s total in the second week: Rs. 5.40 crores

So, that means as of now, Pad Man’s grand total stands at around 68.10 crores!

While Akki is presumably basking in the success of his film, the republic day release of this year, Padmaavat isn’t too far behind in terms of speed even though it has now walked into its fourth week at the cinema halls!

The film kicked off its fourth week by posting a total of 1.65 crores on its fifth Friday (FriYay, indeed!),

Also, the epic drama fared pretty decently on Saturday as well by raking in 2.85 crores, which means that the film now stands on a magnanimous total of Rs. 271.85 crores

On the other hand, here’s how the other two releases of this week, Black Panther and Aiyaary are faring in their opening week:

Black Panther

Paid Previews: 35 lakhs,

Day 1, Friday, 16th February 2018:  – 5.25 crores,

Day 2, Saturday, 17th February 2018: 6.25 crores,

Total – 11.85 crores

On the other hand, Neeraj Pandey’s Sidharth Malhotra-starrer, Aiyaary has begun on a sluggish note and its pace stayed the same even on the Saturday that went by as it collected a total of 3.35 crores and 4.35 crores respectively, which brings the total collections of the film to a dismal 7.70 crores.

Well, what do you think? Which of these films are you planning to watch/rewatch or just let go off this weekend?
