Alia, Varun and Arjun starrer-Shiddat to go on floors soon?
Some exciting news is coming your way, fellow readers! The Alia-Varun-Arjun starrer Shiddat, which was reportedly on the backburner, might be finally going on floors!
The story was reportedly shelved mainly because of two factors:
1) The Script wasn’t convincing enough for Karan Johar to take it forward, and,
2) Arjun Kapoor’s character was reportedly too shallow for him to sign the film
Fast forward to the present, it seems like director Abhishek Verman has been authoring a fresh draft and he feels confident enough to get this story on floors!
Let’s give you a brief overview as to what the film is about from the mouth of a source:
“Shiddat is a period drama set in Partition-era Lahore. It is a love triangle between the three actors, but with unequal roles. Arjun plays the good guy, while Varun plays the anti-hero, which obviously is a better-sketched character with more layers to him. The anti-hero usually gets accolades and audience appreciation and that is Arjun’s dilemma. He doesn’t want to be overshadowed by Varun’s character. He has asked the makers to make some changes in his role and get back to him. While he is interested in the role, he wants more depth to his character to make it stronger.”
As per the source, Abhishek Verman is very keen to get Arjun Kapoor on board, as they are great friends and the director believes that no one can play the role of the good guy better than him. Arjun Kapoor is the kind of actor who never compromises on his role, and will not sign a movie just because he is familiar with the cast and crew. That earned you some respect, Arjun Kapoor!
If all goes well and Arjun Kapoor says yes to the script, it will be a great casting coup as the star-kid trio has never worked together in a movie before!
As far as the trio’s current projects are concerned, Varun and Alia are gearing up for their Rom-Com Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya. On the other hand, Arjun Kapoor has recently wrapped up Half Girlfriend which also stars Shraddha Kapoor.
