Shah Rukh Khan, the king of romance has been ruling our hearts for many years. From 1992-2017, King Khan portrayed different roles. He delivered Blockbuster movies one after the other. The evergreen film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge ran for a record of 1009 weeks un-interrupted at the Maratha Mandir cinema in Mumbai.

Today the Baadshah of Bollywood celebrates his 52nd birthday and we bring to you 7 not so romantic roles of SRK which won our hearts.

Darr

Darr released in a year where Bollywood stars would not experiment with their roles in films. But Shah Rukh Khan went out of his comfort zone and played an antagonist in the film. He portrayed the role of an obsessive lover. This marked his first collaboration with legendary director Yash Chopra. Shah Rukh Khan received the Filmfare Award as the best villain for the film.

Baazigar

In the same year, SRK  again appeared in a negative role in Baazigar. Directed by Abbas Mastan, Shah Rukh effortlessly played both the characters Vicky and Ajay in the film. Shah Rukh Khan even won his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor for Baazigar.

Swades

Shah Rukh Khan played a successful scientist in Ashutosh Gowariker Swades. The film received a widespread critical acclaim and SRK’s performance was loved by everyone.

Don

In 2006 Shah Rukh Khan stepped into the shoes of Amitabh Bachchan in the remake of the 1978 film of the same name. There were speculations if Shah Rukh Khan would be able to do justice to the role of Don, but he shut everyone’s mouth with his portrayal of the underworld crime boss. In 2011 he again returned as Don in its sequel.

Chak De! India

Chak De! India is undoubtedly one of the best performances by Shah Rukh Khan. The Indian sports drama was based on the fictional Indian women’s hockey team, which goes on to win the World Cup. SRK played the coach of the women’s team and his dialogue ‘sattar minute’ is one of the most inspiring dialogues in the history of Indian cinema. Shah Rukh Khan won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

Fan

Fan which released in 2016 featured Shah Rukh Khan playing a double role. The first character was of Gaurav Chandna a Delhi-based, die-hard and obsessive fan of Bollywood superstar Aryan Khanna also played by Shah Rukh Khan. SRK received a lot of critical appreciation for the film, but the film did not do well at the box office.

Raees

Raees released in 2017 and featured SRK as the fierce bootlegger in Gujarat. His dialogues of the film was very famous among the audience, especially “Baniye ka Dimaag aur Miyanbhai ki Daring” The film was loved by everyone and it even received a good response at the box office.
