6 things that made Rowdy Rathore a BLOCKBUSTER!

The Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha starrer Rowdy Rathore clocks in 6 years today. This Prabhu Deva directorial, which was a faithful adaptation of the 2006 Telugu blockbuster, Vikramarkudu, opened to a thunderous response at the ticket windows and became Akshay Kumar’s biggest hit. It was Toilet- Ek Prem Katha, that finally surpassed the collections five years later.

Despite being heavily criticized for its puerile humor and bone-crunching violence, the masses lapped up to this action bonanza and fans rejoiced seeing Akshay in his action avatar after like, ages! Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the co-producer, is very proud and fond of this film. So, let’s see what makes Rowdy Rathore a blockbuster:-

1. The Dialogues

Right from Don’t Angry Me to Jo Main Bolta Hoon Who Main Karta Hoon, Joh Main Nahin Bolta, Woh Main Definitely Karta Hoon, there were hardly any one-liners that stopped the cinemas to erupt into catcalls and wolf-whistles.

2. The Action

Akshay Kumar returned to action after like, ages! To see him beat the bad guys to pulp, that too in a double role, was nothing less than a double treat for his fans! It was destined to be a BLOCKBUSTER!

3. The Songs

Sajid-Wajid made sure the album had some hardcore masala touch. From Chinta ta Chita to Pritam Pyaare, the energy every song generated could have even forced the high-end multiplex audiences to hum them, if not shake a leg, that too inside the cinemas, like it happened in most of the single-screens.

4. The South Serendipity

Those were the times when the Bollywood industry was bugged by the Keeda of South Indian remakes. From Ghajini to Wanted to Bodyguard to Singham, you named it, they made it. So why should have Akshay Kumar stayed away, especially to star in a remake that seemed like home territory for the actor? No questions it clicked and that too Big Time!

5. The Sonakshi Sinha Touch

Sonakshi Sinha, who made a solid debut with the Salman Khan blockbuster, Dabangg, was considered to be every film’s lucky charm. Every film she starred in went on to do more than 100 crores in India, and Rowdy Rathore did the same.

6. The Leading Man

As stated above, no Akshay Kumar fan would think twice before buying a ticket to see him do what he does best- Action and Comedy, and when you have a blend of both in one film, who can stop the film to be a runaway hit?

And now, as we reported earlier, the makers have planned a sequel to the film and hopefully, it should be made soon!
