5 actors who are taking profit sharing for their movies

The recent trend where young actors are rather asking for profit sharing instead of their regular fees for working in any film has received mixed reactions from the film fraternity. The younger lot of actors are now opting for a share in the profit, considering it to be a fair practice and a win-win situation, even for their filmmakers!

Here are five such actors who are going the profit-sharing way

  1. Taapsee Pannu

Taapsee Pannu started her film career working in the south, where she made a lot of movies before her entry into Bollywood with David Dhawan’s Chashme Baddoor. Her versatility has been proven with Pink and her recent release, Naam Shabana. Her next film is the comic caper Judwaa 2 with Varun Dhawan. Her recent release in the south was a Telegu film called Anando Brahma, where she didn’t charge any fees and instead opted for a share of profits with the makers. Taapsee chose this way out since the film had been made on a tight budget and Taapsee’s hefty fees would have added to the producers’ burden.

  1. Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt is currently busy shooting her next, Raazi with Vicky Kaushal, which is being directed by Meghna Gulzar. Alia has proven her versatility as an actor over the years. As per the reports, Alia has turned producer with Raazi and has opted for profit sharing as a way of paying her. Well, it’s not surprising as producing films is in her genes; coming from the Bhatt clan also means that one would have a great business mind as well!

  1. Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh is in his sixth year in Bollywood and has been working on a profit sharing model since quite some time now. Singh was reported for not charging a single penny for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani; instead, he received a part of the film’s profits. Even though few of his last films didn’t do well commercially, he is still one of the most sought after actors who can rake in the big bucks for his filmmakers at the box office. Currently, the actor is busy shooting Padmavati with the same director who made Bajirao Mastani.

  1. Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut, who will be seen in and as Simran this year and as well as Rani Laxmi Bai in Manikarnika in 2018, is on a career high already. From an actor, a writer to a to-be director, Ranaut has all the feathers in her cap. But, if you thought this was it, let us assure you we haven’t even started yet. Kangana is all set to up her game as an actor and is now planning to take a part of the profits that her films make. As per the buzz in the industry, the actress is planning to take her collaborations for films to the next level with upcoming releases in the form of profit sharing arrangements.

  1. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her comeback with Sanjay Gupta’s film Jazbaa opposite Irrfan Khan. The film did pretty well at the box office and managed to put Aishwarya back on the circuit. At the time of filming Jazbaa, it was reported that Aishwarya began walking on the same path as that of her father in law, Amitabh Bachachan by deciding to work on a profit-sharing basis with the filmmakers. Since it was her comeback film and she didn’t want to marginalize her fees, she chose to take a share of the profit, which later proved to be a smart move by the Bachchan bahu. She went home with 3 crores after Jazbaa’s successful run at the box office.
