How hard are you willing to try to keep a relationship going? How many heartbreaks is it going to take you to understand the ways of the world? Akbar Arabiyan’s latest production, Chitrakut is going to tell a story which will attempt to answer those questions for you.
The title of the film, which is, in fact, the name of a city in Madhya Pradesh, is kept so for symbolic purposes as it refers to Chitrakut from the era in which the epic tale of Ramayana was set in. Chitrakut, as per the epic tale, was the place where goddess Sita finally settles down in the ashram of Valmiki after the events of the tale as we know it.
The person who will be directing this project is the actor-turned-director/producer Himanshu Malik, who is known for his work in Bollywood movies like Khwahish starring Mallika Sherawat and Tum Bin. Post his stint as an actor, Malik went on to directing short films, one of which, titled Q.E.D, went on to win multiple hearts and acclaim from across the globe.
The film will be based on the lives of the following people:
Saloni: an aspiring dancer who is running away from a turbulent past, which will be played by Auritra Ghosh.
Shaan: a racecourse gambler who has a deep affection for horses and is on a lookout for a quick buck. The character of Shaan will be essayed by Kiran Srinivas.
Debu: a junior chef who appears to be as innocent as one can be, but he has his avenues of expressing his deep understanding of the world in his own unique way. Debu will be brought to life by Vibhore Mayank.
Alisha: A shop assistant who is hardly living in the moment. She’s constantly torn between the past and the future, be it with regards to the matter of life or heart. Naina Trivedi will be breathing life into the character of Alisha.
Kim: A baker born in a Catholic family who finds pleasure in making wedding cakes with deep precision, but things take an unexpected turn when it comes to the time for her to make a wedding cake for herself. Shruti Bapana will be in charge of bringing Kim from paper to camera.
Chitrakut will be a joint production of Akbar Arabiyan-owned Mojdeh & Mojtaba Movies and Malik Pictures, and Stacey Marbrey in the capacity of the Creative Producer. The lead characters of the film will be played by Kiran Srinivas, Auritra Ghosh, Vibhore Mayank, Naina Trivedi and Shruti Bapana.
