BREAKING: PadMan gets POSTPONED, courtesy Padmaavat!

Given that coming Thursday, we were about to witness the biggest clash of Bollywood till date, that of between Akshay Kumar’s PadMan and Padmaavat, the theatre owners were presumably in the state of frenzy as a clash not only affects the filmmakers, but the exhibitors also tend to bleed profusely as a clash almost never turns out to be good for cinema owners.

But now, it looks like the Indian entertainment industry will have a sigh of relief as in an unexpected turn of events, Akki has (very smarly, though) postponed the release date of his first ever biopic to February 9, which means that  Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor’s Padmaavat will now have a solo release.

Given that Akki has taken a decision like this one doesn’t really come as a surprise. Look at the kind of controversies that Bhansali’s magnum opus has been embroiled in! When there’s a bunch of controversies surrounding a film, there’s intrigue, and when there’s intrigue, there’s all the more anticipation to watch an already highly anticipated flick! So, that’s quite a smart move on Akshay Kumar’s part. A Khiladi in it’s TRUE SENSE!

But, while Padmaavat will be the only Republic day release, PadMan, even after pushing it’s release date forward, will be locking horns with Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee’s espionage thriller, Aiyaary! So, the Brothers duo will become foes indeed!

PadMan is an inspiring tale of an incredible Indian innovator and inventor. It is a fictionalized account of Arunachalam Muruganantham’s life and traces his journey as a rural welder from small-town India to the international arena as he follows his dream to bring a revolution to the world of female hygiene in India. It is the story of an entrepreneur, who refused to give up in wake of resistance and ridicule, and used his resilience and inventiveness to come up with India’s first ever low-cost sanitary napkin making a machine.

Given its subject, PadMan is a tribute to every ordinary and simple man and woman, who dares to dream and make a difference in the lives of millions of others.

Produced by Mrs. Funnybones Movies, SPE Films India, Kriarj Entertainment, Cape of Good Films and Hope Productions, PadMan stars Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, and Radhika Apte and has been written/directed by R. Balki.
